Personal Letter From Auntie Merrilyn

September 13th, 2009

Dear Friends of Overseas Christian Fellowship,

“GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS  O GOD MY FATHER”

OCF. Australia is preparing to celebrate 50 years of God’s Faithfulness to us as a Christian student-body on UAuntie Merrilynniversity campuses, where we have been meeting on Friday nights, in the Name of Jesus, primarily to study the Word of God.   So, a Convention has been planned for several years, to be held where we can all gather around God’s Word, especially giving thanks to the Lord, for His amazing Grace extended to all of we OCF’ers.

  • Bookings have been made in the Equatorial Hotel in Malacca, Malaysia, for us all to be together
  • Meetings are planned from Wednesday 9th until Sunday 13th  December, 2009
  • The theme is 1 Peter 1:3 “to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”
  • Our guest speakers are two former OCF. Leaders, Dr. Calvin Ma (Sydney)and Pastor Chris Chia (Singapore)
  • In the afternoons, we have planned a variety of Forums to be conducted by former OCF Leaders.
  • Opportunity will be given to those who have been on Mission, to share the nations they have reached
  • All your meals will be provided by the Equatorial Hotel, allowing us quality time for reunion meals together
  • There will be sufficient time during the day for you to meet up with your “old mates” and go down memory lane together
  • Malacca is just across the border from Singapore and just a few hours bus journey from Subang Jaya in Malaysia
  • It is not too late for you to register for our 50th OCF Convention, just e:mail :   convention2009@ocfaustralia.org

In Australia, we have sacrificed our annual Convention, in order to give opportunity to Returnees all around S.E. Asia and beyond, to make it more convenient for them to fly into Singapore or Malaysia, that this Reunion will be significant both as an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord and to re-dedicate our lives to Him that as His servants, we all may be fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ and doing what He has told us to do!

Therefore, for OCF students in Australia, who will be returning home for the Christmas vacation, it is not too late to plan your return flight to go through MALACCA, Malaysia, to both receive from the Lord and learn from Returnee OCF’ers, how to leave a mark for Jesus, on your community!

Personally, I look forward greatly to being at our 50th OCF Convention down in Malacca.   I had the joy and privilege of attending our 40th OCF Convention in Malacca, ten years ago, where we were all humbled to see what the Lord has done through OCF Australia, as a University campus student ministry.   There was much praise and worship to the Lord, who established OCF. Australia.   There were old friends to be reunited with.

There were new friends to meet.  Some even brought their wife and four children for his friends to meet.  Even some parents came to meet the people who had affected their children for life.  There was laughter, as we rejoiced in God’s amazing ways.   Likewise, there were tears as we were reminded of difficulties and trials some had faced in their lives.  We were all there to encourage one another;  to learn from each other;  to pray for each other and  being challenged for short-term mission too.  In it all we were humbled to see what the Lord had continued to do through us all and were greatly inspired to get ready to face the 21st Century as His servant.   Now, we are nearly ten years into this Century and the battle-cry has been heard and we need to be alert and “sharpen our swords” and be ready for the Lord’s command.  See you there!

Lovingly from Merrilyn Teague

OCF Makan Masters – WE WANT YOU!!!

June 9th, 2009

OCF 50th Convention is only 6 months away! We, the Committee are excited at your excitement and can’t wait to meet up with all of you. How wonderful it will be to take the opportunity to praise God for what He has done, meet up with old (or older) faces, and renew our faith and commitment together as a body!

In order to make all this happen, we need your help! To make sure Convention is impactful and affordable to all, we have a challenge to raise funds. RM100,000 to be exact. This amount comes from accommodating our various Convention Speakers we are blessed to have, partial subsidies for room charges for Convention delegates and running the various workshops and ministry programs.

That’s where you come in!

Enjoy meeting up with old friends? Whipping up a storm in the kitchen? If you want to contribute as an OCF Alumni, why not throw a fundraising dinner and invite your old OCF buddies or network with new ones? Have fun raising funds focusing on food at the same time. It’s a great way to show you care and a great way come together as OCF fellowship, just like old times.

Here’s what you can do –

1)    Indicate to us your interest to be our official OCF Makan Master! Email us at committee@ocfconvention.org or call us at (65) 9154 9003
2)    Invite your friends for dinner.
3)    You can invite guests to attend and pay a set fee – eg $20 per head.
4)    Send them our OCF Makan invite
5)    You and your friends could start a chain of dinner parties inviting someone at your party to host the next fund raising dinner party.
6)    If you like, we can help you by coming to share with your friends what OCF 50th Convention has in store for you

Any questions or help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

In the meantime, Makan Away for OCF50th Convention!!

Formal Invitation to be a Convention Ambassador for OCF 50th Convention

April 11th, 2009

On behalf of the Convention 2009 committee, we would like to formally invite you to be a Convention Ambassador for this year’s OCF 50th Convention.

As you are aware, OCF holds its annual convention sometime in December. It is a time where members from the different centres across Australia gather in one location to worship and seek God, to fellowship with one another, to learn His Word and to act practically to serve others, particularly through missions. The Convention is also usually held in Australia and involves mostly current student OCFers.

This year’s Convention will be similar in many aspects.

However, it will also be very different as we will be celebrating our 50 years of being based in the Australian campuses, where we actively reach out, build up and send back many generations of international students. As such, we want to take this opportunity to invite both past and present OCFers to gather together to seek and thank God for what He has done to and through OCF over the past 50 years. It will also be a time to look forward to the new things He will do in our midst.

To get things going, we will have to tell a lot of ex- and present OCFers that Convention is on and that they are invited to it. But the Committee consists of only a handful of us with a limited number of contacts.

This is where you come in!

We would like to invite you to be a Convention Ambassador: to be one to spread the word about Convention 09 to your peers, friends, cousins, brothers, sisters, parents, etc, namely everyone whom you know to have been involved in OCF or have been touched by OCF. With your help, we will be able to let more people know that the Convention is on.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to drop us an email at ocf50conv(at)gmail.com. We have also prepared a set of FAQs and other materials to help you through.

Thank you for your help.

In His love,

Wang Wei
On behalf of
The OCF 50th Convention Committee

PS: This is a chance to Partner with us in Fulfilling the Vision of OCF. We need you help!
