Main Theme: Restoring Vision, Renewing Hope
Theme Verse: 1 Peter 1:3b “In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ…”
As Proverbs 29:18a (NIV, ASV) says, “Where there is no revelation/ vision, the people cast off restraint”. We need a vision, to know our purpose and to live with a focus and passion. A vision is what we see.
John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” Do you see the people receiving eternal life and the world saved through Jesus Christ? 1 Peter 1:3b “In his great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ…” Do you see Him as our hope, as the world’s hope?
We believe that when each of us first received our salvation, and journeyed with God, we had the vision and the passion. But along the way, with different priorities and distractions in life, different trials and hardship, our vision and passion dampened. For some, we need to restore and renew that, but for some, we need to seek it afresh.
Along with OCF Australia’s 50th anniversary, we want to remember OCF Australia’s vision. This is a God-given vision, based on Matthew 28:19-20, “…All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything to obey everything I have commanded you…”. Whether we are current OCFers or ex-OCFers, we are not only called to be His disciples but also to be disciple-makers, wherever we are now.
